PCE Decision Making Meetings
What are the meetings?
The meetings are a chance for PCE members to have a say in how PCE runs its events and projects. PCE members come along to help make decisions or to give advice.
We have made a fact sheet about our PCE Decision Making Meetings. But the rest of this web-page is a summary of what the meetings are.
When do the meetings happen?
They meetings happen:
on the last Tuesday of every month
from 4.30pm until 6pm
on Zoom.
Who is at the meetings?
• PCE members
• Interpreters and support workers
• Janet and Michele, the PCE staff.
All PCE members are welcome. You can come to as few or as many meetings as you want to.
What happens at the meetings?
We follow an agenda. We discuss:
What sort of decisions and advice is needed?
With everything we discuss, we might need decisions or advice on:
• When to do things
• Who to involve
• What sort of topics, themes, speakers to do
• How to spend money
• How to involve all members.
How do PCE members make the decisions and give advice?
Members will think about and discuss:
Should PCE do this? Does it fit in with self advocacy and PCE’s mission?
What time and money does PCE require?
Can the PCE staff fit it in with the time and money PCE has?
Can members do this work instead or can we find more time and money?
Two members need to be at a meeting for a decision to be discussed and made.
What rules do we follow at meetings?
Anyone can volunteer to chair the meetings
We are respectful
We listen to each other
We let everyone have their say
PCE staff take minutes and make sure every member knows what was discussed and agreed on.
What can PCE Members learn by coming to meetings?
Coming to the meetings lets members have a say in how PCE does things.
Meetings can also give members skills in decision-making. Members can use these skills when advocating for themselves. Or when doing self advocacy work.
Would you like to join PCE and come to the meetings?
PCE members are welcome at any of the PCE Decision Making Meetings.
Email Janet or call Janet if you would like to become a member. We will add you to the email list for meetings and invite you to every meeting each month.
