Janet Curtain (she/her)
FounderHi! I’m Janet. I’m a disability advocate and activist based in Melbourne's western suburbs where I live with my husband and two daughters. I’m Chinese and have cerebral palsy. This gives me unique insight into the barriers and discrimination experienced by people with disability from non-English speaking backgrounds. I founded the group Power in Culture and Equality (PCE) in 2020. I wanted to empower people to speak up for themselves saying that “self advocacy is like a muscle, if you don't use it you lose it!’. Together PCE are advising government, providing human rights training and advocating for a better community which stands up against ableism and racism.

Hi! I’m Michele. I work alongside Janet. I have a background in project management, editing and writing, arts and generally getting stuff done. Whether I am getting very obsessed with writing a report or debating where to put a comma, or if I’m coming up with a supernatural feminist film idea, I am always passionate about making historically marginalised people matter
